About Us

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FoHSS) is one of the leading faculties at Far Western University. Our faculty is committed to achieving excellence in higher education by constantly striving to improve academic standards while also encouraging students to participate and showcase their talents in various fields, including cultural activities, sports, and other extracurricular and co-curricular activities.

Since its establishment in 2068 BS (2011 AD), the FoHSS has been offering a wide range of undergraduate programs, including Nepali, English, Economics, Geography, History, Mass Communication and Journalism, Political Science, Development Studies, Sociology, and Social Work. In the academic year 2077-78 BS (2021 AD), we introduced a new program, B.A. LLB, under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. This program is now managed separately under the Faculty of Law.

Additionally, the faculty offers graduate programs in Development Studies, English, Economics, and Sociology. To keep pace with the changing demands and needs of society, we revised most of the courses that were launched nearly a decade ago and implemented these updates from the academic session 2077/078 BS.

We are also proud to offer advanced research degree programs, including MPhil leading to PhD in Nepali and English Literature, as well as a PhD in English Literature, which were launched in Falgun 2077 BS (February 2021 AD). Furthermore, new undergraduate program BSW was introduced in the academic session 2077/078 BS.

The addition of these programs reflects our commitment to maintaining a position of intellectual leadership while equipping our students to meet the evolving needs of society. We aim to help them stay relevant and competitive in today’s academic environment and the global workplace.

Thank you for your continued support and interest in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Far Western University. We look forward to welcoming you to our vibrant academic community.

Warm regards,
Prof. Rajendra Prasad Bhatt, Ph.D.
